Thibon's life has one of the most quietly extraordinary double-careers in the collection. He trained at the École des Beaux-Arts (Place des Vosges) in evening classes while holding down a day job — eventually becoming an engineer site manager specializing in the restoration of historic monuments, moving from cathedral to cathedral and castle to castle across France. His professional eye for stone, material, and texture fed directly into his art. An early encounter with Gérard Blitz, founder of Club Méditerranée, and travels to Corfu, Greece, and elsewhere gave him a rich visual vocabulary of landscape and place. The titled works — La forêt vers le fleuve and Tolos Grece — show both his deep roots in French landscape and his love of Mediterranean travel. His work only debuted in the United States in 2022, exclusively through T Botero Galleries.
