Born in Budapest in 1927, Veron trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and became a major participant in the French Salon world — a member of the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon of Drawers and Painters of Water, and the Salon Jeunes Peintres. She married André Lauran in 1950 — both artists, both represented in this show — and the two became bouquinistes (booksellers) along the Seine while continuing to paint. Her work is described as expressionistic, balancing what critics called the "poetic softness" of her touch against bold, primeval strokes. The Salon d'Automne history writes of her: "the sea, landscapes, flowers, and portraits are expressed in the characteristic fashion of Véronique Veron — the emotion is evident." She lived to 97 or 98. She was married to Ándre Lauran, another painter in the T.Botero collection.
